Privacy Policy — MCI Browser Remote Control (Edge Extension)

Last updated: September 9, 2026

1. What this extension does

It connects your own browser to your own MCI server, so that server can drive the browser for page testing: opening pages, dispatching real clicks and keystrokes, taking screenshots, emulating mobile viewports, and reading console and network logs.

The extension has no backend address built in. It only connects to a server you enter yourself, or to a site you explicitly authorized on the extension's settings page.

2. What data it processes

  • Web page content — the text, HTML, and screenshots of the pages you ask it to operate on.
  • Browsing activity — the URLs and titles of the tabs it opens or is pointed at. It doesn't enumerate your other tabs unless you explicitly ask it to list all tabs.
  • Usage activity — console messages and network request logs from those pages, collected only when requested.
  • Authentication data — for diagnostic purposes, the cookies command returns only cookie names, the first 8 characters of values, and value lengths; full values are never returned. Text typed through the extension is recorded in the server-side audit log as a character count only, never the content itself.

3. Where the data goes

The developer doesn't receive a single byte. The extension contains no analytics, telemetry, or third-party services. All data travels over one WebSocket connection to the server you configured yourself, is stored on that server, and stays under your control.

4. What's stored locally

Only two things: the server address, and the device token issued when this browser was authorized. Uninstalling the extension or clicking "Revoke authorization" deletes both.

5. Your controls

  • Commands only run while the extension is enabled and connected. Turn off "Enabled" on the settings page, or disable the extension at edge://extensions, and all remote control stops immediately.
  • The server sends down a site allowlist, and the extension verifies it again locally — any site outside the allowlist is refused.
  • Every command leaves an audit log on your server that you can review anytime.
  • Driven tabs show Chromium's built-in "debugging this browser" banner at the top, so remote control is always visible.

6. Data it does not collect

It does not collect personal identity information, health data, financial or payment information, personal communications, or location data, and it does not sell or transfer user data to any third party.

7. Children

This is a developer tool and is not directed at children.
